Why Float?

Floatation is a wonderful tool to unplug from a hectic & overstimulated world. This will help to achieve true mental & physical wellbeing.

Float therapy involves using a tank, which is like a giant spa bath. 40cms of water is heated to skin temperature & contains up to 400kgs of magnesium salts. Your body will be gently cocooned, leaving your skin silky, you hair smooth & your mind quiet when you emerge. And because of the moisturising & hydrating qualities of the salts, you won't be pruney when you get out.

For an hour you will experience the ultimate stillness. Free from distraction & gravity, the outside world is non existent so your focus can turn inward - amazing things will happen!

There is no wrong way to float. Want the lights on? Then you can. Want to listen to music? We'll pop on something calming for you. Leave us as soon as you're done or stay in the lounge with a glass of water or cup of herbal tea. Hold your stillness in anyway you want.

What are the benefits?

People float to relieve stress, recover from injuries, eliminate pain & much more. Floating is renowned worldwide as having numerous health & wellbeing benefits. Backed by over 80+ medical studies, floating has been shown to offer relief for a wide range of ailments & conditions. It is also a unique & relaxing experience for mind & body.

Pain Management.

Because you are not fighting gravity while floating, research has shown that this is linked to relief of arthritis, back pain, tendonitis, bursitis, inflammation & fibromyalgia symptoms.

Health & Wellness.

Studies indicate that floating increases dopamine & endorphin levels, boosting your mood & leaving you with the post float glow that can last for days afterwards. Floating increases circulation throughout your body. You'll most likely experience the most complete relaxation you've ever felt.

Meditation.

Floating regularly helps to achieve mental stillness, a state frequently sought through meditation. Your brain will cycle between alpha & theta brainwave patterns during your float session. Most people practice meditation for years to enter a theta state - float tanks get you there effortlessly.

Science of Floating

There is a wealth of scientific evidence on the benefits of floating on the mind & body. These are a few points from decades of research:

  • reduces cortisol levels - when high, cortisol can lower immunity & leads to prolonged stress

  • lowers blood pressure - allowing us to feel relaxed

  • increases overall wellbeing

  • boosts cognitive performance

  • improves symptoms of chronic fatigue

  • improves sleep.

Floating & the Brain.

Justin Feinstein, head neurophysicist at Ohio's Laureate Institute for Brain Research, discovered that floating decreases activity in the brain's salience network. This results in:

  • reduced anxiety

  • reduced negative emotions

  • reduced pain perception

  • reduced confusion and

  • reduced impact of serious mental health issues.

The institute's latest study on floating also found that:

"participants reported significant reductions in stress, muscle tension, pain, depression and negative affect, accompanied by a significant improvement in mood characterised by increases in serenity, relaxation, happiness and overall wellbeing"
